Belgium

PSSB is a technical and vocational secondary school situated in the east of Belgium between the cities Hasselt and Maastricht. The school is divided into five departments: Mechanics (technical), Welding (vocational), Electricity (vocational), Sales (vocational) and Trading (technical). The students start their education at PSSB at an age of 12 in the A- or B-class. After 2 school years they choose from one of our 5 departments. The students graduate after 6 years of secondary school, but they get the opportunity to specialize in an optional specialization year. The school has approximately 380 students and 55 employees.

Our P-identity: the P-factor

Our mission: why we exist

in PSSB, we prepare our students for reality. The future is unpredictable and life as we know it can change in an instant, so it’s very important for our students to learn how to be flexible and entrepreneurial. Inspiring our students to get everything out of life motivates us. When they know how to anticipate trouble, they’ll be able to show initiative. When they know how to create possibilities out of every situation, they’ll be able to have an influence on reality. By working together locally and internationally, our goal will be attainable.

Who we are and what we stand for: our DNA = agility, entrepreneurship and internationalization
Who are we?

We are a dynamic, passionate and ambitious team that always wants to be one step ahead. We aim high simply because it makes no sense for us to do anything less. We use what we have and our rich history is one of the most significant factors to respond to the rapidly changing society as it is known today. With all our partners, locally and internationally, we embody our lessons. Every problem that we run into, will be a given because new opportunities will rise. Together with our partners we try to make an effort to influence the current and future reality.

What do we stand for?

Authenticity
Our base is strong because it’s real. Being true to yourself and to others is the key element of effective relationships, whether those relationships are professional or not. If there’s one thing we want our students to never forget when they walk out of here, is to be authentic. It is essential to value yourself, only then you can value others. Another important piece we used to establish a steady foundation is our own background. We consider our past to be enlightening, so we use it to develop. We also believe that our teachers and students gain life experience by dealing with real situations, so that’s exactly what we offer them.

Wide and international perspective
Thinking of possibilities comes natural to us. That’s why we dedicate ourselves to problems because they’re beneficial. When life gives you lemons ... To continue this, we constantly exchange expertise with our partners. Collaborative innovation is used during our classes and counselling. An inspiring world is one in which we use each other equally to achieve great things.

Warm social contact
Whatever we do, we have a people-orientated approach in mind. There’s no such thing as ‘it’s just business’, we’re all people and only that already makes it personal. We’re convinced that treating our connections with care is the best way to succeed.
